| It's a viable rant. I've not encountered this problem anywhere else in my travels. Worst experience for me in this vein was the time I booked a room with Brauerei Reichold and did so directly via email with them. Got a confirmation email (jnot automated but typed out by a staff member) only to show up a month later to find they were on Urlaub for that one day only. Not for the week. Not a normal closing time. Just a sign on the door pointing out that they were on Urlaub for that specific Wednesday only. Nice! Thanks for the email notification to give me a heads up. Like I said, I've not run into that anywhere else. Even in Ireland where there are loads of rural, family owned pubs (not as many nowadays sadly). In fact just the opposite. My wife and I stopped at one around midday only to find the door shut. Started walking back to our car and the owner comes out and invites us in. Even cracked a joke at his own expense in the process "Silly me for running a buiness and forgetting to open the doors" or something like that. Ah well. When they are open the places are lovely as is the beer. So I keep showing up. . |
