Too much Kentish tourism

I can;t find my table now but, before moving here, and part of a conversation with Nick, I did a comparison chart for all major seaside resorts round the British coast.  I was surprised that there wasn't too much between any (apart from say Bournemouth and John O'Groats).  Even the east and south-east coasts, which are the sunniest and driest, weren't so vastly different from north Wales, which is a bit rainier - but it's not like comparing Britain with the southern Mediterranean, the differences are really quite small, when taken as a whole.

Some places do a bit better for sunshine, like the east/south-east, but are colder in the winter.  Then there small differences for individual places.  As Nick said, Thanet is marginally probably the most benign climate but can be cold in the winter.  My bit of north Wales is better than other parts of the region because it is shelter from the prevailing wind and rain (west/south-west) by the the Snowdon range.  I used figures from the MetOffice, which are readily available.

Anyway, they were enough to persuade Jacqueline that she wasn't coming to live in some climatic hell-hole!  She wouldn't countenance Franken or the Oberpfalz, even with Zoigl and Rauchbier!
