Ot: end of old English family breweries

I don't believe it's always a matter of personal taste to the nth degree - I don't have any beer tasting accreditions but I know what is good based on experience and overall I find that I am aligned with people with whom I have respect for their opinion. I also have a very wide palette (though it's shriking rapidly in Franken). Frankly (pun intended) I feel sorry for people who detect diacytl or DMS or goodness knows what else - Hoelzlein Vollbier will always be one of my favourite beers and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks because it's an excellent beer. End of.

In terms of no one updating from Franken with 'on topics', unfortunately those that live here can't spend all their time drinking beer! I was in Doerfleins last night and enjoyed the fantastic kellerbier and dunkles bier as usual. I have recently joined SV Pettstadt (football) and will probably visit the Schmausenkeller after training this evening, a quick cycle from the sportplaetze.

Other than that, Canalissimo and Annafest are fast approaching.
