BBQ coming to Bamberg

A "pike" is the rotating spit of meat, right? (Spieß = "spit" where I come from, a "pike" is a weapon.)

The story I always see on TV is that one of two Döner shops in Berlin-Kreuzberg invented the Döner-in-a-pita-bread to appeal to "busy Germans, always on the go". Traditional Turkish is to eat the meat with rice or bread on a plate. I didn't know that salad wasn't also traditional Türkisch.
