I lived in a lot of parts of the UK, including Manchester, Rossendale, London, Leeds, North Wales. I thought that I'd picked up growler (as in pork pie) in London but it may have been in Leeds,where mushy peas as an accompaniment to all sorts of things, including Yorkshire pudiings, are the norm. As, of course, in most parts of the North of England.
