Too much Kentish tourism

East Anglia is the place where people are encouaraged to get their vaccinations updated before visiting, right?  (Oy!) When we get a motor home, we'll get around to a lot more places than we do now...especially back to the blessedly grim North.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the Bass I've had recently, which is only once or twice in the last few years. Seemed sweetish. Best I've ever had was at the venerable Dolphin in Plymouth, a decade ago now. On gravity from 32-gallon (?) barrels on stillage behind the bar.

Bass was one of the very few keg ales that made it to the US back when I was younger, so I've got a nostalgic spot for it, even though I didn't drink it back then. Is it a shadow of its former self?

It's not really a "tradition" yet, but what I have done a couple of times and will do again this trip: after a 10-hour drive (plus loading and unloading the car incl. bikes) across the continent & under the channel, retire to the Shepherd Neame hotel bar in Broadstairs for supper overlooking the bay, where my first pint is of Master Brew. It's kept immaculately there, quite cool. Then maybe a Spitfire Gold, and then off to better (but also sadly, warmer) pints.
