Too much tourism

I am a long time fan of draught Bass but I'm not sure that it is the great beer that it once was.  I believe that, nowadays, it is brewed by Marston's, so, at least, still in Burton.

There are so many different breweries in Britain that it is very hard to keep up with the multitude of different beers.  On top of this, many of the micro's change their beers at the drop of a hat.  Even more difficult for me as the Bay Hop has a policy of changing it's beers with every barrel.  So, at the moment, I'm drinking a Salopian Brewery beer at 3%, which is lovely and tasty but doesn't even appear on their website!

I keep quoting a retired brewer on our Forum (ok, so it's Andrew!), who said to me that the art of brewing is to brew a low strength beer that tastes good.  Hope I'm not misquoting you Andy.  So, I now always drink the 3 point something beers and they are generally pretty good.  However, I did try a half of a smoked beer whose name I can't remember but it was quite nice, a bit reminiscent of Heller Maerzen but, at 7.6%, too much for me, I'm afraid.
