Must say that I'm not aware of any UK prejudice against mixer taps, they are everywhere. But separate taps were the old way and I suppose that they wouldn't be replaced unless there wasn't a good reason to do so. There is a technical problem with mixer taps as they microbore feeder pipes that have be joined to the main supply lines and that sometimes causes problems. Re sink plugs: I think that most people have them in their homes but, as Andy says, I can understand why hotels and rented apartments leave them out. The fancy plugs controlled by rods are also prone to faults. My p!umber removed mine and replaced it with spring type. Posted by a man who has wrestled with plumbing problems for years!
