UPDATE

We visited the brewpub shortly after its opening a few years ago. We were unimpressed, but then one cuts a new brewery some slack til they grow into themself. We were then unimpressed with subsequent drinking of the Hell on keg around town here: murky, bland, like Barfüßer or any number of other modern German brewpub blond beers that just aren't lagered long enough or summat.

And especially at the Unicum Biergarten near us here, which began selling it this last year, as new management took over the place. But now that the Biergarten is long closed, we've called in at their newly-re-done bar & restaurant inside. Lo and behold, the Hell is much better there: clear (see Twitter at the bottom of the main page) and fairly clean, with a pleasant light maltiness.

With the vastly diminished volumes being dispensed at the bar inside, compared to the popular Biergarten, the kegs must be getting a chance to "lager" longer, clearing and cleaning the beer up. Or something.

Anyway, second chances and what-not. It's not a terrible beer at all when allowed to lager a while, though I can still only drink two before the relative sweetness takes over, killing it for me. Then it's time to switch to the Kloster Scheyern Dunkel. (Of which I can also manage one or two.)
