Good point. You'd ask for a "leichtes Bier", not a Schankbier.

You are an unusual case: you are contaminated with so much knowledge of foreign and contemporary beer styles. Same as, say, Andy Gänstaller. I wonder what a more "average" Braumeister would say about this.
