Br. Sauer in Röttenbach: Restaurant Hopfenhaus

I have been making a stop at the Hopfenhaus the last few times in Franconia to say hello to the two young restauranteurs who are running the place, I enjoy seeing them and chatting about been when I'm over, not only because they speak fluent English but also because they are quite kind and seem interested in the Franconia beer scene (and curious about all the westerners who come over for the beer).

The kitchen is indeed solid, fresh vegetable and meat dishes that are not your typical boiled sausage and fried schnitzel.  And while the beer isn't a favorite of mine, I do enjoy catching up with the proprietors, they have been very receptive to my feedback on how their beer is cared for (not that this is something I do regularly, but the last two times I've been in the taps have had problems that I helped them address... first pour of the day was smelling like vinegar / cleaning solution, which cleans out after a full glass. I think the person they hire to clean and manage their taps has no idea what he is doing, shame shame).

Yes, highly recommended for the kitchen and the conversation.  Cross your fingers that the beer is in good shape!
