OT: Visit to Chodovar Plane

Meant to report this earlier but events got in the way.  One week ago, our hosts took us to the Czech Republic.  First we went to Chodovar Plane and had lunch in the Felsenkeller, which I'm sure it is like many similar in Oberpfalz and Franken.  In the entrance passageway you can view the massive lagering tanks and interesting displays on the breweries history. Being in a former German-speaking area, the old brewery was known as (hope memory is correct) Brauerei Koettersplane.  The food was excellent (even with veggie options) and very reasonably priced.  We sampled 2 beers: a 11o unfiltered Helles and a Dunkles.  Boh were really good.

Afterwards, we travelled to Marienbad/Mariánské Lázně, which is really impressive town, reminding me very much of English spa towns such as Bath, Buxton, and Cheltenham.  I had a Pilsner Urquell, the taste of which was hardly a surprise.

The trip through the Czech countryside was particularly interesting, with many small villages that probably haven't changed much for decades - and not a supermarket in site!
