Cask Ale in the US

As my lawyer friends would say, that assumes a fact not in evidence.... smiley

If there was anything you'd recognize as "cask conditioned ale" it would have been pretty much accidental, in that prior to the industrial production of CO2 the beer would have been gravity dispensed -- and unfiltered as beer filtration was not much in use prior to 1900.

But remember that the largest groups of immigrants to the US in the 1800's were German speaking (or ruled by German speakers -- i.e Czechs and Slovaks). And there many before then -- my German ancestors emigrated from the Rheinland to Pennsylvania in the 1760's

Outside New England the US beer tradition is more a German tradition than a British one.
