OT: Android tablets

Thanks Don.  Having spent an inordinate time researching this matter, I'm little further on and have decided to carry on with my old Netbook, which, generally, serves its purpose, although it's a bit heavy to carry.  However, we've sent quite a lot of stuff on by post, so our packs won't be so heavy.  From all my 'research', it seems to me that tablets are on the cusp of a major change (bit like calculators a few years ago, which were really expensive but now are virtually given away - I use the one on my mobile now).  Most of the so called quality products are made in China in the same factories that make the Chinese cheapies.  The main difference in performance seems to be in the operating systems rather than the actual hardware and it seems that this is likely to change in the not too distant future.

I'm not too worried about connectivity when on the move and the fewo where we are staying has a good WLAN link (so I'm assured!).  I've never actually tried a tablet so will see if I can find somewhere in Weiden where I can actually get hold of one in my hand and see what it's like.

We actually have the fewo booked until August 9 and we haven't booked a return flight, so you might be able to make it over before we leave.  A warm Oberpfalz welcome awaits you both!
