Almost spot on re Jersey, though we do have a pub just opened selling all sorts of interesting ales from the UK we have only been able to enjoy previously at the twice yearly CAMRA beer festivals. What we lack in beer diversity we more than make up for in the pubs themselves, some really good pubs in Jersey, many of which serve real ale from the local brewery and some UK nationals.

As for the UK staying in the EU I cannot see a majority of the British public being so stupid as to vote in favour of leaving the largest and most diverse common market in the world. Of course that won't stop the media from blowing up a storm about it, just like the Scottish referendum and the recent elections where it is clear that whilst people may well spout all sorts in polls, when it comes to the crunch the status quo is always maintained.

Having said that I don't agree with Cameron's approach trying to write the UK's own rules on EU membership, being more than happy to cream off the benefits whilst refusing to comply with the less appealing yet fundamental principles of the EU. It smacks of the spoilt kid at school who takes his ball home when he doesn't get his way.

Anyway, I'll be on the other side of the fence soon enough.
