Marble Arch

You're dead right- just looked at the photo's on the website - at least 9!  Memory dimmed by the excellence of the 4 that we tried but Marble Arch is run by the brewery, so we might expect quality.  Don't recall the Angel but they call themsleves a gastro-pub, so might not make too much effort, with all the other offerings in M/cr city centre.  You may recall that the Castle used to be one of my locals back on the day - even had a small hand in the folkclub run by one Paul Levene in the 1960s.  Sadly, the Robbie's (J's favourite beer) in the Castle wasn't great, so will have to take a quick trip to Stockport (on 15 mins on bus from in-laws).

Probably, no definitely, include City Arms on my list for forthcoming visit, also, for old times sake, the Circus (very hospitable landlord/landlady nowadays).  Of course, can't call in Circus without visiting Grey Horse next door for a taste of Hyde's.  Won't bother with BP (lots of different ales but atmosphere not a patch on what it used to be) or Peveril of the Peak, lovely pub but very studenty nowadays.

Tickets now booked for Feb 15, returning Feb 20.  We have some family visiting to do but will definitely be visiting some of the pubs mentioned and, of course, the Griffin in Heald Green for old times sake and to sample my favourite Holt's beers.

Hope this has passed some of the time in the train!  Have you been to Westvletern yet or are you on your way there?
