No, Jan, it's not 'formerly' franconian territory. It's still franconian territory because Franconia is not limited by Bundesland-borders. Franconia's biggest part is in Bavaria, a smaller part in Baden-Württemberg (major cities: Heilbronn, Tauberbischofsheim, Crailsheim, Weikersheim, Bad Mergentheim, Lauda-Königshofen) and an even smaller part in Thuringia (Sonneberg, Meiningen, Eisfeld).
