You should visit the brewpub Schlenkerla for tasting the Schlenkerla Oak on gravity. I don't know the date of the Bockbieranstich in this year. In the last year it was the 29th November. It is a beer for advent. In the region Bamberg the Schlenkerla Urbock is the first bock. This year: 6th october. The both last bocks are Gries Bock (5th December) and Mönchsambacher Weihanchtsbock (9th December). The calandar changes from year to year because the breweries have special rules (p.a. the first friday of the month). The End of the bockbeer time (historical rule) is Epiphany (the Café Abseits ignores this rule). The spring bock period starts at the 19th March (St. Josef day). If You will visit Bamberg from 1th to 3th December, You have not the chance to taste the Griess Bock and the Mönchsambacher Weihnachtsbock officially. Maybe it is possible (for foreigners) to taste a Zwickl at the brewery. Maybe I can help (visiting the breweries or get bottles of these bocks some days before the official Bockbieranstich - only for foreigners, because the breweries don't like pubs selling their bocks before the date of the Bockbieranstich). The most of the other automn bocks should be available in December. Maybe the one or other bock is sold out. I try (for the Café Abseits) to storage beers like the Schlenkerla Urbock, but it is difficult to guard against thirsty fleas.
