Somewhere in Berlin

Günther from Burgkunstadt, the big Kulmbacher brewery, Brauhaus Barbarossa from Schöllkrippen (western reaches of Franconia, not far from Aschaffenburg), and Wagner's Eschenbacher brewery join Hummel in representing Franconia in Berlin this year, but the distribution of these breweries - at least as shown on the web site - is mildly amusing, with some classified as "Bavarian" and Eschenbacher as "Franconian" in the company of brewers from the Oberpfalz and Austria(!). Didn't see Fischer on the list this year, unless it's suddenly been "relocated" to Saxony or something. Oh, wait - Maisel's Weisse is grouped with Kölsch and Alt from Nordrhein-Westfalen as "Biere aus dem Ländle." Never mind. Kreuzberger Klosterbier is a medieval beer. Who knew? I agree that the Berlin "Biermeile" should be on a beer tourism itinerary at least once, if not more; I've been three times. It's served by three U-Bahn/subway stops, the only beer festival I've ever been to that can make that claim.
