Yes, Annafest often leads to an adventure for me returning to Bamberg. Similar to 2 years ago, this year the Deutsche Bahn, in their wisdom, has decided to do some night work on the tracks between Forchheim and Bamberg, beginning around 9:30 pm on Tue., Wed., Thu., and Fri. of this week. Last night I had planned to be out of Annafest by 9 pm, to avoid the bus back to Bamberg, but after a few too many Mass, I missed my goal, and did not get out until around 10:30 pm. Somehow I made it to the Forchheim Bahnhof and onto a Bus to Bamberg. However, for some reason I got off the bus in Hirschaid, thinking it was Bamberg. It was completely desolate there, and I looked around for a taxi or a taxi phone number at the telephone booth, to no avail. In the end, I just stood there for an hour until the next replacement bus from Forchheim arrived. Thank God I had not been on the last one. So, I got back to Bamberg around 12:50 am and had a nice walk home. Yesterday I tasted Eichhorn, Rittmayer, Hebendanz, Loewenbraeu, and Greif. I still say Greif is the hoppiest, though it may be a tie with Loewenbraeu.
