Beer festival Hof

Met some people in Binner last night who had been to the annual Whit (Weiss?) Monday beer festival in Hof. They said that the beer was good, mainly dark, but they had to buy a mass at €6.40 a time. Makes me wonder why anyone would want to a festival?
