Barnikel

After reading a bit about Barnikel on here we decided to visit on our trip last week. Wonderfully old fashioned place. Most of the family who served us seemed rather on the portly side, but very friendly nevertheless. Beer wasnt the best of the week, though the Rauch was quite interesting(we drank a bottle of this with Fred earlier in the week). We got the bus to Frensdorf as it was Saturday, then walked over the hill, about 2km to Herrnsdorf. From there we walked to Robersdorf. Good beer here, including a lightly smoked Rauch. From here we walked along a bike path to Hirschaid. Quite a way(6km?)We checked out the Hirschaider keller there which looked great even though its very close to the motorway. They were just closing but we chatted to the guy and had a bottle of Kraus. He then gave us another one(free) for the train trip to Bamberg. I think well be back. Think you could also combine Barnikel with Reundorf and the keller at Pettstadt(I believe Fred did this as a bike ride).
