Syphons & Stones

I've learned that what Germans call a "Siphon" is called "jar, jug," or "growler" where I'm from. But then I see this is also "siphon/syphon" in English: http://www.dict.cc/?s=siphon . What do you mean by "stones"? Sometime I'll come up for a small IPA session. Soon, before they lose their freshness!
