Any book that recommends pouring sugar into individual bottles ought to be retired to a museum somewhere. I've heard that the pills or tabs work well, but are also not cheap. And I find my low-gravity pale ale bottles are drink-ready (as the Germans might say) in a week, let alone two or more weeks. But I also use supposedly fast-acting fructose and the aggressive Nottingham yeast.
