What is Kellerbier?

I think that Mahrs and Spezial "U" Biers are Kellerbiers but for some reason in Bamberg, the dialect calls them "U" (and not only that, in Bamberg they are "a U", not "ein U", from what I am told, though when I have said "a U" at Mahrs, the Frau usually repeats to me my order as "ein U").
