Franconian Beer Message Board

Franconian Brewing Museum

Hi again everyone. Forgive me please if I seem to be monopolizing the message board lately. I have a request that I'm hoping someone in Bamberg will be willing to help me with but before getting to it I'd like to tell the little story that goes along with it first. In a recent post I mentioned that I had recently been in Bamberg with a friend enjoying what is easily my favorite German city. One of the things we did while there was visit the Franconian Brewing Museum there at the Michaelsberg. When we got to the museum the man we encountered there told us it was closed that day but after a brief conversation about beer he informed us that we could go in anyway (he had the keys!). So, we got to tour the entire museum, at our leisure, and had the whole place to ourselves while doing so. If you've ever been to the museum I don't have to tell you that, for a beer person, it's nothing short of fantastic. Anyway, at the end of our tour my friend and I encountered the same gentleman who had let us in; doing some paperwork in the beer hall that serves as a sort of lobby for the museum. We stopped off to tell him how much we enjoyed the museum and to thank him for allowing us to enter despite its being closed. After that brief exchange this gentleman asked if I would be willing to have a look at what he was working on. It turned out to be the English speaking version of the tourist brochure for the museum. I took a look and made a few grammatical edits and offered some suggestions regarding word substitutions. When I was finished this very kind gentleman rewarded my very meager efforts with a souvenir mug from the museum (he gave one to my friend as well). Now, we come to my request. I have no idea how many of my edits this gentleman choose to make use of. It's very possible he discarded all of them and had the brochure printed as he had originally written it. So, I'm very curious to see if I made any contribution to it at all. Also, If he did decide to include any of my edits, that would mean that in a very very small way, I will have had a hand in drafting the English speaking version of the tourist brochure for the Franconian Brewing Museum in Bamberg. Forgive me for being silly but I personally find that prospect very exciting and would love to have a copy (or four) as a souvenir. So, that's my request. If there is anyone there in Bamberg that happens to read this and happens to find themselves at the museum; would you please grab several of the English version brochures and send them to me? By the way, the gentleman I keep referring to is the man featured in the picture you see on this website. If you navigate to this URL: http://www.brauereimuseum.org/ You see a picture of a gentleman wearing a gold medal and holding a mug of beer. This is the man who basically made our whole day that day. The mug he's drinking from is identical to the mugs he gave to my friend and I which I now very proudly display in my home. Can anyone tell me who he is and in what capacity he is affiliated with the museum? I realize it probably tells me right there who he is but I only very barely speak German and can't read it at all (except of course for those phrases that I can also speak). Thanks for looking at my post. I hope it wasn't too lengthy. Eric
