He said "one" Bier. He's driving. Better would be that he'd have no beer at all, what with his driving in a foreign country where the traffic flows differently than expected (and the BAC limit is actually .03 if one is in an accident--regardless of fault--or even if one gets a ticket for not knowing who has right of way in a complicated intersection, like hundreds in a little old TOURIST town like Bamberg), and being jetlagged...but I digress.
