Thanks for that interesting report! By the way, on Day One, you mention, "The couple sharing our table commented on our drinking the starkbier" (the Schlenkerla Fastenbier). Did they really refer to the Fastenbier as a "Starkbier"? That beer is only 5.5% ABV. Just curious. :-) Btw, I agree with you about those beer cards + backpack at the Bamberg tourist office -- a great deal! Though my backpack's zipper stopped working on one side after a very short time. Not the highest quality backpack, but worth the price. Finally, it sounds like I need to visit Hummel in Merkendorf.
