Beer gardens: yearly opening

The answer is "it depends." Some of the kellers have permanent structures and are open year round. When there is a nice day people will come and sit outside even if there is no outside service. For example, last Sunday in Bamberg was a beautiful sunny day. It was probably 45 deg F at most, but the sun felt good. People trekked up to Spezial Keller, ordered a beer from inside, grabbed a folding chair (or table) from where the were stored and sat down. We all looked like human sunflowers, tracking the sun. There was still patches (of slowly melting) snow around. Other places like Wilde Rose Keller (next to Spezial Keller) have fixed dates -- in their case May thru September. I would say it depends on the weather. Most should be open by the first of May, some may open sooner if the weather is good.
