Bamberg here we come!

I went to Vierzehnheiligen. It is a spectacular rococo church, if you like over the top church ornamentation. You take the train to Lichtenfels then a bus to the church. You wind up walking 10 mins to the church, the brewery is right behind the church. I arrived right before mass and since I had limited time, I wound up drinking at 11AM. One caveat; the bus schedule at the stop listed a 1:30 return bus to Lichtenfels. I got there around 1:15 because I tend to be early and there is a small park there to wander about. Anyway, the bus arrived about when I got there and did not wait. It also followed a different route than expected. So I don't know if it was an earlier unscheduled bus and there was a 1:30, or if the schedule is incorrect. If you are interested in a long day trip you can combine Vierzehnheiligen with Coburg, maybe another 20 mins by train. Coburg apparently has an impressive castle. I was planning to do both, but decided to return to Bamberg and drink. Coburg only has larger brewery taverns, no small family ones. I have digital pics of the church if interested, plus they have a website. Mike
