 We spent a wonderful evening yesterday at the Engel-Keller. A 'Volksmusikkapelle' was playing, the waitresses wore traditional franconian dresses. A very nice location. Beer: On tap was Kellerbier, dark Kellerbier, Kellerpils, all of them unfiltrated, and some more sorts. The rest of Engel's portfolio we could buy bottled. The Kellerbier was excellent (malty, nutty, yeasty), the dark Kellerbier was equally good. The Kellerpils was as great as both of the others. Tried from the bottle: Landbier hell and a strong Märzen (5.9%) called 'Aloisius'. The Landbier was a Hohenlohe style Vollbier, quite good. The Märzen was liquorlike, two strong for a girl like me... ;-) All in all surprisingly good beer from a major brewery!
