The Franconian word for a liter of beer

I have been wondering for quite some time about the correct pronunciation of the word for a liter of beer in Franconia. Maybe it is even different in different areas.
Even the actual word poses a question - is it Maß (long vowel) or Mass (short vowel). I have some indication that Maß properly means measurement, and Mass is a different word meaning a liter of beer. Obviously, the Mass of beer is more or less unknown north of Franconia, so the Duden editors may be forgiven for not explaining this very well.
In Bavaria, the word seems to be die Mass (feminine). The measurement term is das Maß (neuter).
But... since Franconian is not Bavarian, I have not been able to find out whether "a Mass" or "a Maß" is the correct way to order. Maybe better to stay with a Seidla...
